Curry showed up but Kings struggled defensively

Yes, we are officially on the Seth Curry bandwagon! The young man we wrote a feature on about having a “next man up” mentality definitely had one tonight. He checked in and the Houston Rockets instantly felt his great shooting ability.

The Sacramento Kings still lost 116-110 but this offensive explosion from Curry may be what the Kings needed to see because the starting shooting guard position is still up for grabs.

Curry made a case for himself tonight without a doubt. He finished with eight points and a plus 10 in player efficiency. Not too shabby.

“I give him a lot of credit, he’s been working on his game since he’s been here and he’s been waiting for his opportunity,” Darren Collison told reporters after the game. “And for him to come in a big game like that and hit some big shots and really give us a spark is big-time from him.”

The Kings were awful tonight on defense. They allowed James Harden and company to shoot 48.8 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc. Harden finished with 43 points and made 4-of-10 from 3-point land.

Marcus Thornton and Trevor Ariza chipped in four 3-pointers apiece.

If the Kings struggled against a depleted Rockets team, tomorrow won’t get any easier. The defending NBA Champions will give the Kings everything they can handle and then some.

But it will be nice to watch Curry get the start because he would face his older brother Stephen Curry. That is must-watch television.

And lets not forget about the return of Jason Thompson. The longest tenured King is making his return to the old barn and it will be nice to see the best fans in basketball give him a nice ovation for his unbelievable commitment and dedication to the Sacramento community.
