With all the Colts roster moves recently, one of the most surprising decisions was the release of defensive tackle Mitch King. Although King’s role in the defense started to decline in recent weeks, he started the season on the active roster and the Colts rarely put active players down to the practice squad once they conclude they are good enough to play a role in games on Sundays.
Tom James of CBS Rapid Reports indicates that Mitch King and running back Brandon Minor were added to the practice squad. Minor played collegiately at Michigan and is the biggest running back on the roster at 6-foot 1-inches and 216 pounds. The move to push King down to the practice quad but retain Ricardo Mathews suggests that either King has disappointed the Colts front office, or that Ricardo Mathews has showed further development from his impressive play in the Colts season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.
