Daily links for the LA Angels including another Angels players-only meeting, no prospects to be called up until September, Fuentes staying grounded despite recent dominance and much more.
The Story: The Angels held a players-only meeting before yesterday’s game.
The Monkey Says: The conversation was reportedly very calm and more of a soul-searching sessions rather than an airing of grievances. Personally, I think the Halos have had so many of these meetings this year, they just can’t get excited for them anymore.
The Story: Mike Scioscia said no more prospects will be promoted until September.
The Monkey Says: So go ahead and stop with all the Trumbo talk already. Same goes for Walden, who I doubt the Angels even call up anyway.
The Story: Fuentes thrives while staying grounded.
The Monkey Says: Maybe Brian isn’t getting too excited about his recent success because he realizes that his career track record suggests that he is bound to go in the tank again. You have to give him points for being realistic.
The Story: The Angels shouldn’t give up on Brandon Wood.
The Monkey Says: I agree, I just don’t think that he is going to get another real shot at starting at third without some sort of insurance. However, I find it pretty funny that everyone used to hate Wood, but now the tide seems to be turning and suddenly everyone thinks he should get another shot.
