Reinfeldt Named New Titans GM

After more than a week of negotiations, the Titans have agreed to contract terms with new General Manager Mike Reinfeldt.

“I am very pleased that we were able to bring a former Oiler back home to our organization,” said Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. “He was a fabulous player for us, has been an outstanding football man at Seattle and Green Bay and I have every confidence that he will do a great job here as well. He has helped two franchises win multiple titles over the last 15 years and that experience will be implemented here as he shapes the Titans.”

I’m a little disappointed things took this long, but am glad he’s now in place. I hope he can roll his sleeves up right away and hit the ground running.
Fortunately, with his background, Reinfeldt won’t require any on-the-job training.
The Reinfeldt timeline:

1975-1976 Safety, Oakland Raiders
1976-1983 Safety, Houston Oilers (All-Pro, 1979)
1985-1987 Chief Financial Officer, Los Angeles Raiders
1988-1990 Associate Athletic Director, University of Southern California
1991-1998 Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Administration, Green Bay Packers
1999-2003 Senior Vice President, Seattle Seahawks
2005-2007 Vice President of Football Administration, Seattle Seahawks
2007- General Manager, Tennessee Titans

“I am pleased that we were able construct a thorough process that would identify a number of qualified candidates and I think we found someone in Mike who will fill this role seamlessly,” said Titans COO Steve Underwood. “Mike stood out to us for the variety of roles that he has experienced through his sports career and the ability to excel in those roles – whether it was as an undrafted player reaching the Pro Bowl level or being part of a football operation at two different NFL teams that have a great deal of success. I have no doubt that his success will continue as he takes over our General Manager post.”

Welcome aboard, Mike.
