Report: UConn Football To Resume Rivalry With Boston College (Video)

Boston College Eagles @ UConn Huskies

It’s time to start thinking of trophy names as it’s been rumored that the UConn football team will resume their rivalry in 2016 with the Boston College Eagles.

The news was first reported by Mark Blaudschun of ajerseyguy.com and confirmed by others.

The UConn football team will play at Boston College in 2016 with BC coming to Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in 2017. The two teams will meet up again in 2022 (at BC) and in 2023 (at UConn).

Because UConn football’s non-conference schedule was already full for next season, the UMass Minutemen has been dropped from the schedule, temporarily. UConn football and UMass will play a four-game series from 2018-2021.

The UConn football program will head to Gillette Stadium to take on UMass in 2019 and 2021. UMass will come to the Rent in 2018 and 2020.

When asked about the resumption of the rivalry with Boston College at his weekly press briefing, UConn football head coach Bob Diaco said he couldn’t comment on a non-executed contract. He did say it “would be awesome” to play regional teams as you can see in the video below.
