Timberwolves fans, I sense something different about you after the NBA Finals

2017 NBA Finals - Game Five

I am a Timberwolves fan…from the Bay Area.

My friends are Warriors fans. My family as well.

Me, I was never a Warriors fan. I did not grow up watching basketball.

But that changed after I followed a guy named Kevin Love, and his trade to the Timberwolves solidified my fandom as a basketball fan.

As a Timberwolves fan!

So last night, when I saw my favorite player concede defeat to the Warriors, who won it all for the second time in three years, I cant help but to respect their celebration from a short distance.

Love them or hate them, the Warriors earned their title.

It was a well-fought series.

I was not the only one watching the festivities unfold.

Zach LaVine was too:

And so did Karl-Anthony Towns.

And so did you, my Timberwolves friends!

You embraced the moment, like LaVine and Towns, knowing it was not yours to bask in.

I’m not saying you could not celebrate the win if you actually wanted to, but I started to notice something different about you guys that was not there in years past.

This was a strange feeling for me, but it was an infectious feeling!

The Warriors’ second title in three years renewed your relationship with the Timberwolves!

This time though, I feel the passion and the sincerity.

Having endured the Kahn era, and a growing season under Thibs, you guys wholeheartedly embrace the direction of this franchise.

Great, now what? What does this all mean in the bigger scheme of things?

Here’s what it means: The Timberwolves are heading in a competitive direction under Thibs, a direction that is giving you every reason to love them again.

So remember this moment, Timberwolves fans, the moment where you stopped envying other teams for their titles.

The moment where you reflected on your fandom and rekindled your love for our Timberwolves:

Go Timberwolves! Get your howl on.
