What we’ve learned so far from Lovie Firing, Press Conference

handshakesmall

Lots of information has come out over the last 8 hours, by listening to local radio shows, call ins from reliable sources who are trusted, we’ve learned a bit about the organization’s way of doing things.

For starters, Free Agency has been Lovie Smith’s job, with the Draft more on Jason Licht. This would explain the Glazers decision to make the move, as the draft has been awesome, and free agency has been uninspiring.

Also the firing did not happen on the phone…not by the Glazers Choice. They wanted to meet with Lovie, but Lovie started to ask questions and figured it out. He declined to come in and said thats not required, came to One Buc and emptied out his office. He was not fired on the phone by choice of Glazers, but by Lovies.

After hearing the press conference, everything points to Dirk Koetter . NO  WAY the Glazers let Lovie give his end of season press conference knowing they were going to fire him. Reports are the Dolphins, with GM Tannenbaum who is close with Koetter, were close to finalizing the deal.
Koetter is scheduled to have Hip Surgery, this week, and that is not canceled. You don’t do that in between jobs.

Jason Licht is a very intelligent man, who was very careful with his words. Nothing mentioned sounds like the scenario of Koetter as Bucs new HC wouldn’t come to fruition. Its simply a case of the Glazers having to choose between Lovie or Koetter, and they made their choice.

Mike Smith, former HC of the Falcons was also defensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars where Koetter was OC the same year. Koetter stayed until 2011 when he then became the OC at Atlanta under Smith. Smith ran a 4-3 in Jacksonville.

One big plus to Dirk Koetter is Jason Licht would assume more GM type control, Koetter is NOT a big shot NFL head coach who would even think of commanding control of personnel. One of the great lessons in Bucs history is never allow a head coach to have control of players. It’s failed each and every time in Bucs history.

Early Bucs had success with Ron Wolf getting talent for John McKay, and the turn around was due to Rich McKay taking over as GM in Sam Wyche’s last season going into Dungy’s first year.
