NFC South Odds

According to the best online sportsbooks, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heavy favorites to win the NFC South.

The NFC South has been one of the weaker divisions in the NFL for the last decade.

While Tom Brady shook things up by heading to Tampa bay, the division was primarily dominated by the New Orleans Saints during that span.

On the other hand, the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons have been struggling ever since their respective Super Bowl appearances in 2015 and 2017.

After a strong week 1 performance from the Buccaneers, the division is theirs to lose. Tampa continues as the clear favorites with -275 odds to win the NFC South.

Scroll down for a complete breakdown of the NFC South odds for each team in the division.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-275)

The best NFL betting sites have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the heavy favorites to win the NFC South.

With Tom Brady coming out of a short lived retirement, the Buccaneers also have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +800 odds.

Tampa Bay had a lights out offense last year but was marred by injuries as the season unfolded. The Buccaneers reloaded the receiving core by picking up Julio Jones in the offseason, giving Brady another dynamic target to throw to on the outside.

In addition, the defense will be continue to be directed by Todd Bowles, who’s known to be one of the best defensive minds in the game.

New Orleans Saints (+250)

In a distant second, the New Orleans Saints hold the second best odds to win the NFC South at +250 odds.

In 2022, the Saints will look to turn over a new leaf with the Sean Payton and Drew Brees era officially over.

While the Saints still have a strong defense, the season will ultimately boil down to which version of Jameis Winston shows up on game day.

Winston is known as a turnover prone gunslinger but has learned how to cut down on his mistakes since coming over to New Orleans.

Despite Winston’s improvement under center, the Saints still are long shots to win the division and the Super Bowl.

According to the best offshore sports betting sites, the Saints have +2500 odds to win Super Bowl 2023.

Carolina Panthers (+1400)

The Carolina Panthers finally have a quarterback after acquiring Baker Mayfield in the offseason.

Matt Rhule is one of the highest paid coaches in the NFL and he’s definitely in the hot seat after two losing seasons with the Panthers.

While the addition of QB Mayfield gives Carolina +1400 odds to win the NFC South, they remain longshots to win the division, at best.

The best US sports betting sites have the Panthers with +15000 odds to win the Super Bowl, which indicates that Panthers fans could be another long season under Rhule in 2022.

Atlanta Falcons (+5000)

The Atlanta Falcons are projected to be the worst team in the NFC South.

The best betting apps have the Falcons at +5000 odds to win the division.

The Falcons had a tough offseason after losing Pro Bowl veteran quarterback Matt Ryan.

Instead, former No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota will lead the Falcons under center.

Atlanta also drafted former University of Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder in the third round, but with the organization in the midst of a lengthy rebuild, there aren’t high hopes for the Falcons this year.

Atlanta opened up the season with +30000 odds to win the Super Bowl, the second-worst odds to win the Super Bowl in the NFL.

Breaking Down The NFC South Race

It appears that for a third straight year, the NFC South will be dominated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This season, the Saints, Panthers and Falcons will enter the regular season new starting quarterbacks in hopes of challenging the Bucs for the division crown.

The NFC South is expected to be a two-team race between the Saints and Buccaneers.

With one the best offenses in the NFL, the Bucs are expected to be dangerous once again in 2022.

After the Julio Jones pickup in the offseason, Brady will still have multiple options in the red zone despite the departure of longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Season Preview

  • Super Bowl Odds: +800
  • NFC South Odds: -275
  • Projected Win Total: 11.5 wins

Heading into Week 1, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the second best odds to win the Super Bowl.

The minute Brady decided to unretire, expectations sky-rocketed in Tampa Bay.

The top offshore sportsbooks took notice took, moving the Bucs’ projected win total from 6.5 games to 11.5 games, tied for the most in the league.

The Buccaneers had one of the best offenses in the league last year, averaging 405.9 yards  and 30.1 points per game.

After acquiring Julio Jones, the wide receiver core is stronger than ever around Brady, who led the league in passing at the age of 44.

With a hard-nosed defense and the greatest QB of all-time under center, the Buccaneers don’t seem like they will be slowing down in 2022.

Not only are they the favorites for the NFC South, the Brady’s presence under center makes the Bucs legitimate Super Bowl contenders under new head coach Todd Bowles.

New Orleans Saints Season Preview

  • Super Bowl Odds: +2500
  • NFC South Odds: +250
  • Projected Win Total: 8.5 wins

The Saints will look to take a step forward under new head coach Dennis Allen, who served as the defensive coordinator in New Orleans for the last seven years.

New Orleans is projected to hover around .500 this season, which means that their best chance at the playoffs will likely come from the NFC Wild Card spot.

The Saints simply don’t stack up offensively with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are the favorite to win the NFC South.

Several key players on offense missed time due to injury, including Jameis Winston, who only played seven games in 2021.

With a healthy roster on the field, they have a fighting chance to rival the Bucs but everything will need to go right in New Orleans.

Over the course of his career, Winston has been inconsistent under center, and while he played well last season (1170 yards, 14 touchdowns and only 3 INT),  the former No. 1 overall pick has yet to prove that he can perform at that level over the course of a full NFL campaign.

While we expect the Saints to have some highs and lows this year, New Orleans should still be able to contend for a playoff spot in the NFC.

Carolina Panthers Season Preview

  • Super Bowl Odds:+15000
  • NFC South Odds: +1400
  • Projected Win Total: 6.5 wins

The Carolina Panthers have a tough regular season schedule.

While the Panthers look to improve on their 5-12 record last season, the Panthers are only projected for 6.5 wins, which might not be enough to save Rhule’s job.

The Panthers have a late bye week in Week 13, which comes after a gauntlet of games against some of the best teams in the league.

Before its bye week, Carolina will have to take on eight playoff caliber teams in a span of 12 weeks.

Even with Baker Mayfield under center, Carolina won’t be able to survive its schedule to challenge for the division crown.

Atlanta Falcons Season Preview

  • Super Bowl Odds: +30000
  • NFC South Odds: +5000
  • Projected Win Total: 4.5 wins

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to have a tough season.

After losing veteran quarterback Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts, the Falcons are in complete rebuilding mode.

The good news is that there aren’t any expectations for Arthur Smith and the Falcons, as they are projected to be the worst team in the NFC South.

The Falcons have a tough regular season ahead of them, facing six playoff-caliber teams within the first nine weeks of the season.

With a late bye coming in Week 14, it could be a long season in Atlanta, especially if Mariota and company struggle to move the ball on offense.

If the Falcons begin to fade early in the season, how quickly will the organization turn to rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder?

NFC South Picks and Predictions

The NFC South is a one-team show.

Tom Brady isn’t finished yet.

Not only does Brady’s return make the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the team to beat in the division, but the Bucs will also be expected to challenge for the Lombardi Trophy.

One of the most decorated quarterbacks in the NFL ever, Brady is still considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league at the age of 45.

Despite the departure of head coach Bruce Arians, the Buccaneers remain one of the best offensive teams in the league. Tampa Bay ranked second in points per game, yards per game and first in passing yards per game last season.

In addition to the Bucs’ high flying offense, Tampa Bay returns a top 15 defense that is expected to get even better in 2022.

While injury to the secondary limited their success, the Bucs allowed only 331.5 yards per game and 20.8 points per game.

Now that the defensive mind Todd Bowles is the head coach, fans can expect the Bucs to take a step forward this season.

Tampa Bay will likely be less aggressive on offense, which will lead to longer drives and help the defense stay off of the field this year.

It’s Super Bowl or bust in Tampa Bay and that journey begins by winning the division title.

Take the Buccaneers to win the NFC South.
