Emmanuel Sanders denies that Malcolm Butler shut him down

New England Patriots v Denver Broncos

Emmanuel Sanders was held to three catches for 48 yards Sunday in the Broncos’ 16-3 loss to the Patriots.

He’s not about to give any of the credit to Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler, however.

The Patriots sacked Trevor Siemian four times and hit him five times according to ESPN.com. They held the Broncos (8-6) to their fewest points since the days of Tim Tebow, when they lost 7-3 to the Chiefs in Week 17 of the 2011 season.

Perhaps it was a collective effort that limited Sanders on Sunday, but now’s not the time for him to let his pride get in the way. If the perception is that he got beat one-on-one, Sanders has to let people think that. The Broncos have lost two in row and need to win and get help to make the playoffs. Sanders should be worrying more about his team getting beat rather than himself getting beat.
