Jerry Rice advocates for 49ers to trade for Antonio Brown

NFL: Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers

49ers legend Jerry Rice is known by many to be the greatest receiver of all time, so he knows a thing or two about scouting pass-catchers.

And with the 49ers lacking playmakers on offense, Rice suggested an interesting idea that he believes will help others produce. He was asked about the Antonio Brown situation, and Rice suggested that the team should trade for him.

“If you got a player like that, that you can get,” Rice said during a radio appearance on 95.7 The Game. “That can really add to the offense of the San Francisco 49ers, when you let those guys go play. I think you have to go for it.”

That’s easier said than done. Brown would probably require somewhere around two first-round draft picks, which is a lot to give up for a guy with character issues. And then when you factor in his salary, it’s a a ton for a team to absorb.

Still, when he’s at this best, Brown is arguably the best receiver in the league — but for how long?
