Nike unveils Earned Edition uniforms; Celtics’ version to debut on Christmas

When the Celtics host the Sixers in Boston on Christmas Day, they will wear yet another new version of their classic uniform. The yellow-and-white on green design is part of Nike’s Earned Edition line, created only for the 16 teams that made the playoffs last season. (Sorry, Lakers.) The Earned Edition is a variation of the City Edition uni that the Cs have worn occasionally this season.

As you can see in the Celtics’ tweet above, a special feature is Red Auerbach’s autograph stitched near the label – although that’s a strange place for it. NBA players must keep their jerseys tucked in, so Red’s name won’t be visible. Perhaps it would’ve been better just above the player name on the back of each jersey.

In any case, the color combo is appealing and, as always, infinitely better than anything involving grey. Below is a quick look at all the Earned Edition models.
