No Brady No Problem As Patriots Win Epic Opening Day Showdown

No Brady? No Gronk? No Ninkovich? No Dion Lewis? No Vollmer? No Solder? No Cooper? No problem.

It was an opening day for the history books no Brady, no Gronk but instead, Garoppolo and Chris Hogan would be ruling the game and the Patriots would win on 47-yard field goal that would soar wide left on the uprights.

It did not take long for the Patriots to get on the scoreboard as Chris Hogan caught and scored on a 37-yard touchdown early in the first quarter. Garoppolo exceeded all expectations as he completed 24 of 33 passes for 263 yards with a touchdown.

“They gave us all we could handle tonight. It was a good test for us” Garoppolo said.

Let’s also not forget Garoppolo was without what was supposed to be his starting running back, left tackle, right guard, and right tackle and star tight end.

“We are not going to be able to that every week” Bill Belichick said in his postgame press conference. That is exactly right we will not be able to do this every game but I am happy it happened now so we can start the season 1-0.

The game was not perfect but it was good enough to get the job done and at the end of the day that is all that matters. The Patriots are currently on top of the AFC East as they are the only team in the division to win today.

Bill Belichick even used some humor in tonight’s conference as he zinged Boston Globe writer Ben Volin after asking about the storyline and Garoppolo moving forward. Belichick would respond by saying “I’m really, really concerned about the storyline. There’s really nothing higher on my list than the storyline tomorrow.”  Classic Belichick!

Extra Notable Belichick Quotes:

Belichick: “big play of the game was the (last) kickoff, getting the penalty”

Belichick on the offensive game plan: “We ran what we felt like we needed to run to win”

Belichick: “fought em all the way in all three phases”

Belichick on Garoppolo “It’s not perfect, but he made a lot of good plays”

Belichick on offense: “We had our moments. There’s times we moved the ball well, crisply, there were times we didn’t.”

The Patriots will now start to prepare as they will play the next three games at home starting Sunday when they take on the division-rival Miami Dolphins.

So for now let’s all celebrate this great week one win in Belichick style!
