The Boston Celtics Summer League schedule was released yesterday, and they will be the headline of the Las Vegas League. Boston will play against two historic rivals in the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angles Lakers. They will only play three games guaranteed, but could play more in the playoff. Boston’t third game will be against Portland.

Schedule

July, 8 vs. Lakers 7:30 EST

July, 9 vs. Portland 7:30

July, 11 vs. Philadelphia 5:30

The first game of the summer vs the Lakers will be a spectacle for sure. The Celtics own the number one overall pick, and the Lakers earned the second. Both teams already have stacked young rosters, with the addition of the two best rookies in the draft fans should expect a show.

The same thing should be expected in the third game against the 76ers who have the third pick. However, former Sixers draft studs Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons will not play in Summer League, as reported earlier this month.

Celtics fans are in for an exciting off-season. No one know for sure who the Celtics will take with the number one pick, or with their other three picks, but they will join a talented young group of players.

Jaylen Brown will likely participate alongside other players gearing up another year in green. Other notable returners to Summer League will be: Demetrius Jackson, Ante Zizic, Jordan Mickey, and reigning D-League MVP Abdel Nader. Last years 16th overall pick Guerschon Yabusele will not play this summer due to a recent foot surgery to remove bone spurs.

Summer League is where these young players have their chance to make a name for themselves. Last year it came down to Summer League performances to determine the finalized roster. Not only is this a chance for young players to improve their skills and work on team chemistry, it’s also a time where they need to fight for their jobs. With so many young players on the Celtics roster, there are a lot of guys with a lot to play for this summer, and that is sure to be exciting.
