Former Yankees pitcher/pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre passed away in Seattle on Sunday, after battling bone marrow cancer. He was 77 years old.

Stottlemyre played for the Yankees for 11 seasons, and later served as the Mets pitching coach when they won the World Series in 1986. He then moved on to the Yankees, where he saw the team win four World Series during his tenure there.

He was a good pitcher, but as a coach, he was known to make great pitchers elite. This cartoon pays tribute to him.
