4 Essential Tips For Hosting The Big Game

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins

Whenever there is a big game on, it is the perfect excuse to round up your nearest and dearest to have them over to watch it together. Doing so will provide you with all the comforts from home, plus it is much cheaper than heading to a local sports bar which is often heaving when it is a particularly big game!

If you are hosting, you will want to make sure that everyone has a great time and is able to easily enjoy the game, which means that there will need to be a little preparation beforehand. With this in mind, here are four essential tips for hosting the big game.

  1. Seating

First, you need to think about the set up that you have in your living area and where everyone will be sitting to catch the game. Everyone will need to be able to see the television clearly but also still be able to sit comfortably so think about how many people are coming and the number of seats that you have. You may need to rearrange the furniture and find a few extra seats from somewhere. You will also need a table that is big enough to hold all the drinks and snacks but does not interfere with the view of the TV.

  1. Drinks

No big game party is complete without a few drinks, so this needs to be another area to consider. Beer is the obvious choice, but you may want to have a few other options available to your guests, including non-alcoholic options for those that do not drink or if there are any kids over. People may bring drinks, but you do not want to rely on this, so make sure that you stock up. It is better to have too many than not enough!

  1. Food

People do not expect a sit-down meal when watching sports, but it is a nice touch to have a few snacks. Ideally, this will be something that is easy to whip up, does not make a mess and will be easy to eat while watching the match. There are obvious choices like chips and dips and hotdogs, but if you want something slightly more substantial, a cauliflower biryani can be easy to cook, and it is a dish bursting with flavor (it also goes very well with beer!). Just be sure that the food does not interfere with the game at all and make sure that there is enough for everyone to enjoy.

  1. Courtesy

Finally, remember to be a courteous host, which means being gracious in defeat or if your team is victorious, drinking responsibly, keeping the TV volume to a respectable volume and notifying your neighbors that you are having people over (you could always extend an invitation to them as well).

Having people over for the big game is a great way to enjoy a sporting fixture, but as the host, there are a few steps that you will need to take in order for it to be an enjoyable viewing experience for everyone and the above are the main areas to consider.
