Patriots Vs. Bills Week 2 Preview

After a very impressive opening night win over the Steelers, the Patriots will take the field again Sunday afternoon vs. the Bills. This will be the first away game for the Patriots this year and it will not be an easy one. The Bills are coming off of an impressive 27-14 win over the Colts.

Bills head coach Rex Ryan is ready to take on the Patriots and he is expecting Bills fans to be even louder than last week. When asked the other day about the Patriots and his game plan he responded: “Yeah, I mean the Patriots are the ones you want to beat. Everything you do, it is not like we are just now preparing for them. We have been preparing for these guys for a long time. Shoot, I’ll go home early. The plan is ready, that plan has been ready for a long time.”

But as always Bill Belichick is also ready to play, one thing the Patriots will have to be careful about is Ryan’s different blitz packages. If the Patriots can stop the blitz and give Brady time to throw the better our offence will be. Belichick had this to say on the different blitz packages: “The key for us is just to identify it. They give you a lot of different looks and they bring a lot of different people. It’s not just a linebacker or a particular safety or whatever it is. They have different packages. Sometimes that changes by formation, so it depends on what you’re in what you’re going to get. I think the key is just that we have to have a good week of preparation, make sure we can understand what we’re doing on each play and follow our rules. Our rules will take care of whatever any defense does. We have a certain thing we do depending on what happens, and hopefully we’ll be able to execute those if and when they come up on Sunday.”

Rex Ryan was big on crowd noise last week and he expects it to be louder this week. Brady had this to say about battling the crown noise: “Well, we prepared for it today. We couldn’t hear anything on the practice field, so you’re right; it’s definitely a loud stadium. I think the fans, it’s amazing the fans, the support that they have on a year-by-year basis for their football team. It feels like they’re always into it. They love their team. They love supporting them. You know, that’s NFL football at its best. Its fun for us players coming from the other side, too, because you know you’re going to get the other team’s best. You’re going to get the most energy. For a one o’clock game on Sunday, it’s going to feel like it’s a primetime game”.

One thing the Patriots will have to do is contain the deep threat. We saw to many long completions last week vs. the Steelers and it gave them momentum when they really needed it to stay in the game. To me the deep threat for the Jets is Sammy Watkins, he did not have a catch vs. the Colts but I expect Ryan to utilize him a lot vs. the Patriots.

With the big news today being that LeSean McCoy was pulled out of practice due to hamstring tightness, that could be a huge hit for the Bills. Ryan said he “hopes” he is ready for Sunday. When we hear more about McCoy we will be sure to update you.

This is a big divisional match up for the Patriots and I expect them to come out on fire and ready to go.
