Carolina Panthers Prediction

During the offseason, Carolina traded for Baker Mayfield and he will take over as the new starting QB.

The Panthers have the No. 1 and No. 3 overall picks in the 2018 NFL Draft on the roster with Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold competing for the starting job.

Four of the first five games will be played at home for the Panthers.

They take on the Cleveland Browns at home in Week 1 before traveling to New York to face the Giants in Week 2. Then, Carolina will be back at home in Weeks 3-5 to face the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, and San Francisco 49ers.

While the first five games are challenging, Carolina can easily win 2-3 games during this span.

Weeks 6-10 bring on three very difficult matchups and two winnable games.

In Week 6, the Panthers will travel to Los Angeles to face the defending Super Bowl champion Rams before returning home to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Panthers will be on the road in Week 8 and 9 to face the Atlanta Falcons and then the Cincinnati Bengals. In Week 10, they will be back home to face the Falcons.

Carolina will then receive a much-needed bye week in Week 13.

They have two difficult matchups before the bye. They will travel to Baltimore in Week 11 and return home to face the Denver Broncos in Week 12.

Then, the regular season schedule starts to get a bit easier following the bye week. Carolina will face the Seahawks in Seattle in week 14. They will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15 and host the Detroit Lions in week 16. These are 2-3 winnable games for the Panthers.

The Panthers end the season on the road in Week 17 and 18. Carolina will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 17 and the New Orleans Saints in week 18. Unless one of these teams has clinched the division, it will be difficult for the Panthers to win either contest.

Here is a list of possible wins for the Panthers in 2022:

  • Beating Cleveland at home in week one with Deshaun Watson
  • Week 2 @ New York Giants
  • Week 8 @ Atlanta Falcons
  • Week 10 vs Atlanta
  • Week 14 @ Seattle
  • Week 15 vs the Steelers
  • Week 16 vs the Lions

The 6.5 win total seems perfectly set for the Panthers this year. With Baker Mayfield and a healthy Christian McCaffrey, they can easily win more than the five games they did last year. In fact, seven wins seems like a real possibility this year,

Take the Carolina Panthers to finish with over 6.5 wins in 2022.
