NFL Week 8 Power Rankings: Kansas City Back On Top

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones

It took seven games, but the Kansas City Chiefs are once again the best team in the NFL. Find out which team is behind the Chiefs in our NFL Week 8 Power Rankings below.

There are a few changes at the top, with losses from the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and Detroit Lions. The Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, who met in last season’s Super Bowl, are the only 6-1 teams in the NFL.

The Baltimore Ravens are getting hot at the right time. Meanwhile, what’s going on in Buffalo? With the halfway mark approaching, the gap between the contenders and the pretenders is getting wider by the week.

We ranked every NFL team from 1-32. See our rankings below.

NFL Week 8 Power Rankings

Rank Team Super Bowl Odds Notes
1 Kansas City Chiefs

(6-1)
Kansas City Chiefs logo

+450 Is Taylor Swift the Chiefs’ good luck charm? Kansas City is 4-0 with Swift in attendance, including Sunday’s 31-17 win over the Chargers. Kansas City is unstoppable when Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are the best players on the field.
2 Philadelphia Eagles

(6-1)
Philadelphia Eagles logo

+650 The Eagles bullied the Dolphins on Sunday night, especially in the fourth quarter when they converted two “Brotherly Shoves” before scoring a touchdown to clinch the victory. A.J. Brown has inserted himself into the Offensive Player of the Year conversation.
3 San Francisco 49ers

(5-2)
San Francisco 49ers logo

+450 The 49ers offense could not overcome the losses of Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams, falling to the Vikings 22-17. Brock Purdy had another so-so performance. The 49ers will be OK in the long run.
4 Baltimore Ravens

(5-2)Baltimore Ravens logo

+1200 Did Sunday’s victory over the Lions feature Lamar Jackson’s best performance as a Raven? The former MVP threw for 357 yards and three touchdowns with one rushing touchdown. Baltimore will only get better as they become healthier.
5 Miami Dolphins

(5-2)
Miami Dolphins logo

+900 Miami could not handle the physicality of the Eagles on both sides of the ball. However, the Dolphins forced two turnovers in big spots, a promising sign for a defense that will improve once Jalen Ramsey and Xavien Howard return to the lineup.
6 Detroit Lions

(5-2)
Detroit Lions logo

+1800 The Detroit Lions were punched in the mouth by the Ravens from the opening kickoff. Sometimes, that’s the way the league works. Detroit is still the favorite to win the NFC North.
7 Dallas Cowboys

(4-2)
Dallas Cowboys logo

+1000 Dallas had a bye in Week 7. They welcome the Rams to Dallas on Sunday afternoon before their highly-anticipated showdown against the Eagles on Nov. 5.
8 Jacksonville Jaguars

(5-2)
Jacksonville Jaguars logo

+2500 The Jaguars have won four straight games after a 1-2 start, highlighted by their 31-24 win over the Saints this past Thursday night. Jacksonville has a massive test on Sunday against the Steelers.
9 Buffalo Bills

(4-3)
Buffalo Bills logo

+1200 What is going on with the Buffalo Bills? Buffalo’s rollercoaster season continued with a shocking loss to the Patriots in the game’s final moments. I would not want to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo’s opponent on Thursday night.
10 Seattle Seahawks

(4-2)
Seattle Seahawks logo

+4000 It wasn’t pretty, but Seattle came out of Week 7 with a 20-10 win over the Cardinals. Rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba had his best game of the season, catching four passes for 63 yards and one touchdown. The Seahawks welcome the Cleveland Browns to town on Sunday.
11 Cleveland Browns

(4-2)
Cleveland Browns logo

+2800 A defensive player is never going to win MVP. However, Myles Garrett is playing like an MVP. The defensive end was a monster in the Browns’ 39-38 win over the Colts, recording two sacks and two force fumbles. No AFC offense will want to see the Browns’ defense in the playoffs.
12 Pittsburgh Steelers

(4-2)Pittsburgh Steelers logo

+6600 Pittsburgh continues to find ways to win. The Rams outgained the Steelers in nearly every statistical category, but Pittsburgh left SoFi with a 24-17 win. The Steelers welcome the Jaguars to Pittsburgh in Week 8.
13 Cincinnati Bengals

(3-3)Cincinnati Bengals logo

+2000 The Bengals had a bye in Week 7. Cincinnati heads to San Francisco in Week 8 to play the 49ers. If Cincinnati can beat the 49ers, they will be considered a threat to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
14 Atlanta Falcons

(4-3)
Atlanta Falcons logo

+8000 Despite a mysterious injury to Bijan Robinson, the Falcons defeated the Bucs in an ugly 16-13 win. I’d be shocked if the NFC South winner won more than nine games. The Falcons head to Tennessee in Week 8.
15 Minnesota Vikings

(3-4)
Minnesota Vikings logo

+5000 Two weeks ago, the Vikings were 1-4 with no hope. Today, the Vikings are winners of two straight, including an impressive 22-17 victory over the 49ers. Maybe the Vikings shouldn’t move off Kirk Cousins in the offseason if he can get Minnesota back in the playoffs.
16 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

(3-3)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers logo

+10000 The Baker magic is starting to wear off in Tampa Bay. The Bucs defense forced three turnovers, while the Bucs offense possessed the ball longer than the Falcons. Yet, Tampa still lost. Their reward? A trip to Buffalo to face an angry Bills team. It could get ugly.
17 Los Angeles Rams

(3-4)Los Angeles Rams logo

+12500 The refs in the Rams-Steelers game need to take the week off after their horrible spot cost Los Angeles a chance to get the ball back and tie the game. The Rams will play tough every game, but this team’s destiny is 8-9 or 9-8.
18 Los Angeles Chargers

(2-4)Los Angeles Chargers logo

+4000 One is by chance. Twice is by coincidence. Three times is a pattern. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert struggled for the second straight week. If the Chargers lose to the Bears, Brandon Staley should no longer be the coach. Austin Ekeler, it’s time to step up.
19 New York Jets

(3-3)
New York Jets logo

+800 The Jets had a bye in Week 7. New York is in a good spot at .500. It’s still too early to talk about the playoffs, but if the Jets beat the Giants in Week 8, the postseason chatter will gain momentum.
20 New Orleans Saints

(3-4)New Orleans Saintslogo

+6600 Derek Carr is the check-down king. That’s not a good thing. Carr was intent on throwing the ball behind or at the line of scrimmage all night, one of the many reasons behind the Saints’ loss to the Jaguars. New Orleans marches to Indianapolis to play the Colts.
21 Houston Texans

(3-3)
Houston Texans logo

+12500 The Texans had a bye in Week 7. Houston fans should be ecstatic with the start of the 2023 season. It looks like the front office hit home runs with their head coach, DeMeco Ryans, and quarterback, C.J. Stroud. Speaking of Stoud, the rookie QB will face No. 1 pick Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
22 Indianapolis Colts

(3-4)
Indianapolis Colts logo

+20000 Against Cleveland’s defense, Gardner Minshew and the Colts’ offense accumulated 456 total yards of offense. That’s very encouraging for a team without Anthony Richardson the rest of the way. The frisky Colts play the Saints in a winnable game in Week 8.
23 Washington Commanders

(3-4)Washington Commanders logo

+20000 Ron Rivera’s days are numbered as the Commanders coach after losing to the Giants. Sam Howell has been sacked 40 times, which is on pace to shatter the record of 76. Washington plays Philadelphia in Week 8.
24 Tennessee Titans

(2-4)
Tennessee Titans logo

+15000 The Titans had a bye in Week 7. BetOnline currently has the Titans as 2.5-point underdogs against the Atlanta Falcons. Mike Vrabel as a home underdog = an automatic bet on the Titans.
25 Las Vegas Raiders

(3-4)
Las Vegas Raiders logo

+20000 The Raiders lost to the Bears, who started a former Division II quarterback under center. What was the point of playing Bryan Hoyer over Aidan O’Connell? Josh Mcdaniels’ odds of returning as the head coach next season are probably less than five percent.
26 Green Bay Packers

(2-4)Green Bay Packers logo

+10000 It’s only been six games, but Jordan Love’s resume is not good. The Packers quarterback could only muster 181 passing yards in defeat against a terrible Broncos defense. Love is running out of chances to prove he deserves to be the starter.
27 New England Patriots

(2-5)
New England Patriots logo

+25000 For the first time all season, the Patriots looked like a competent football team in their 29-25 victory over the Bills. Mac Jones silenced the critics for at least one week after throwing the go-ahead touchdown with under 20 seconds left in the game. Let’s see how New England plays in Miami on Sunday before saying this team is “back.”
28 New York Giants

(2-5)New York Giants logo

+25000 This was the Giants team that many expected in 2023. The Giants defense sacked Sam Howell six times and forced an interception. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor played well in the victory, begging the question if he should be the starter over Daniel Jones in Week 8.
29 Chicago Bears

(2-5)
Chicago Bears logo

+50000 No Justin Fields? No problem. Tyson Bagent and the Bears’ offense gained over 300 yards and scored 30 points in their victory over the Raiders. Maybe there is hope for Chicago after all.
30 Denver Broncos

(2-5)Denver Broncos logo

+75000 The Broncos picked up a much-needed victory against the Packers. It didn’t move the needle, but a win is a win. Denver is still not a good team. However, why do I have a strange feeling that the Broncos will have the lead at some point in the second half against the Chiefs this week?
31 Arizona Cardinals

(1-6)
Arizona Cardinals logo

+100000 What are the Cardinals going to do with Kyler Murray? Their franchise quarterback is almost ready to play, but should they suit him up if the goal remains to have a high draft pick in 2024?
32 Carolina Panthers

(0-6)
Carolina Panthers logo

+100000 The Panthers had a bye in Week 7. Carolina plays the Houston Texans in Week 8. Carolina’s front office will pray all week for Bryce Young to outplay C.J. Stroud.
