Reviews of the Best Sportsbooks for College Football

Want more analysis on the best NCAA football betting sites? The following reviews cover the pros and cons of each offshore operator. You can use these college football site betting reviews to find which one(s) tailors to your specific needs.

1. BetOnline – The Top College Football Betting Site for Multiple Reasons

BetOnline top college football betting site

BetOnline is the cream of the crop when it comes to NCAAF betting. This bookmaker takes weekly NCAAF bets on the moneyline, spread, totals, and team/player prop bets. It’s easy to construct NCAA football parlay wagers and teasers using the bet slip. The futures markets also roll deep with lines open for the Heisman winner and National Championship winner et al, and the site’s newly-improved live betting suite enables you to back your team in play, with occasional live-streaming available. Simply put, bet on college football here if you are looking for well-stocked markets.

This betting site also stands out thanks to its frequent promotions (see BetOnline promo codes here) and fast withdrawals. It does have minor drawbacks in the form of a high minimum deposit ($55) and no live streaming. Nevertheless, BetOnline has enough good aspects to make it a premier pick for placing college football bets.

Pros:

  • Wealth of college football betting odds
  • Large number of promotions
  • Fast withdrawals
  • Puts out NCAA lines quickly
  • Many futures bets

Cons:

  • High minimum deposit
  • No live streaming

2. Everygame – Enjoy College Football Bets, Casino Games & Poker on One Account

Everygame offers college football betting, casino games and poker

While you may love sports betting and college football, you might appreciate other types of online gambling too. Everygame ensures that you can jump seamlessly between other gambling verticals with one account. Once a member, you’ll be able to place college football bets and play casino and poker games.

Everygame Sportsbook gains extra points for its unique promotions, plentiful deposit methods, and user-friendly website. It could stand to add a loyalty program and offer a bigger welcome bonus. Even still, Everygame has enough to land inside of our top 10.

Pros:

  • One convenient account for all gambling verticals
  • Wide range of banking options
  • The website emphasizes user experience
  • Interesting promotions

Cons:

  • No VIP program
  • One of the industry’s smallest welcome bonuses

3. Bovada – Boasts Favorable NCAA Football Betting Odds

Bovada favorable NCAA football betting odds

Bovada has been a mainstay in the US sports betting and college football market for years. Its willingness to offer player-friendly odds is a big reason behind its success. Bovada’s NCAA football betting odds offer value and stack up well with any competitor.

You can expect other perks here, including small minimum withdrawals ($10) and ultra-low bonus rollover (5x). The Bovada website could use some improvement, though, because the pages load slowly. But the wait is worthwhile given the positive aspects that this bookmaker offers. You can use our Bovada promo codes if you decide to bet here.

Pros:

  • Favorable college football odds
  • Alternative spreads and same-game parlays
  • Small minimum withdrawals
  • Really low bonus rollover

Cons:

  • Website looks dated
  • Pages load slowly

4. MyBookie – Enjoy Lots of College Football Prop Bets

MyBookie many college football prop bets

MyBookie is another solid spot to bet on college football. This bookmaker routinely rolls out entertaining prop bets during the collegiate season. It provides plenty of other wagers too and offers a parlay builder feature.

One bet type that’s missing is teasers, which is surprising given that MyBookie covers everything else. Another downside involves the $50 minimum qualifying deposit for bonuses. Provided you can handle these drawbacks, though, you’ll find this sportsbook to be worthwhile. If so, you can check out our MyBookie promo codes here.

Pros:

  • Wide selection of prop bets
  • Detailed parlay builder
  • Offers live streaming
  • Plenty of promotions

Cons:

  • No teasers
  • Large qualifying deposit for bonus

5. BetUS – Features the Biggest College Football Betting Bonuses

BetUS biggest college football betting bonuses

BetUS has been in the business for a long time, having launched in 1994. It has only gotten better and better over the years—especially in the bonus department. BetUS college football promotions (get BetUS promo codes here) are the largest in the industry right now.

This betting site also excels at releasing early NCAA football betting lines. You can get advice on which of these early college football bets to make through BetUS TV. As for drawbacks, BetUS doesn’t offer live streaming and makes you meet bonus rollover in just 14 days.

Pros:

  • Huge NCAA football betting bonuses
  • Early college football lines
  • Long-running operator
  • Offers BetUS TV

Cons:

  • No live streaming
  • Limited time to meet bonus rollover

6. BUSR – Provides Many College Football Futures Bets

BUSR dedicated section for NCAA football prop bets

Interested in betting on some NCAA football futures? BUSR is a great place to start thanks to its extensive range of these wagers. You’ll find futures on the national champion, Heisman Trophy, conference champs, regular season wins, and more.

Beyond the futures, BUSR Sportsbook offers a big welcome bonus, low rollover, and user-friendly navigation. The latter is helpful for finding the aforementioned futures. BUSR’s drawbacks include limited withdrawal options and high qualifying deposits for bonuses. These negatives aren’t enough to dissuade us, though, from highly recommending this sportsbook.

Pros:

  • Many NCAA football futures
  • Large welcome bonus
  • Low bonus wagering requirements
  • Easy website navigation

Cons:

  • Few withdrawal methods
  • High qualifying deposits for bonuses

Available crypto banking options include Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Ethereum, and Litecoin. If you aren’t familiar with cryptocurrencies, then you can use the onsite tutorials to help.

You should be quite sure of Jazz before depositing, though, because all deposits require 1x rollover. You’ll also need to deposit at least $50 when betting on college football here. Provided you’re okay with these aspects, then you’ll find that Jazz is a solid NCAA football betting site.

Pros:

  • Offers anonymous college football bets
  • Accepts several cryptocurrencies (and non-crypto options)
  • Provides cryptocurrency tutorials
  • Live streaming

Cons:

  • Deposits come with 1x rollover
  • $50 minimum deposit (or crypto equivalent)

What is NCAA Football?

NCAA football differs from basketball in that it splits Division 1 programs into two classes:

  • Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) – 131 schools
  • Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) – 130 schools

The FBS features the most competitive teams and conferences. It’s home to the “Power Five Conferences,” including the ACC, Big-12, Big Ten, SEC, and Pac-12. Each year, four teams make the College Football Playoff (CFP) and vie for the national championship.

The FCS also features competitive schools and conferences, although not to the extent of the FBS. It doesn’t attract much betting action because it has a lower profile. In fact, most college football online sportsbooks only feature lines involving FBS teams.

What is the Difference Between the NFL and NCAAF?

The NFL and college games differ from each other in a couple of big ways. Number one, the point spreads are larger on average in the NCAA. College teams regularly have two-touchdown spreads or higher, especially in mismatches. Pro football, on the other hand, has tighter lines due to the more-even talent distribution.

College games are also higher scoring than NFL contests. The average NCAAF team scores roughly 30 points per game, while the typical NFL team nets around 23 PPG. Naturally, higher collegiate scores lead to bigger totals lines at online sportsbooks.

Overtime is one more important difference between NCAA football and the NFL. College teams each get an equal amount of possessions regardless in overtime. NFL teams normally each get a possession, unless the first team that receives the ball scores a touchdown.

Is it Legal to Bet on College Football in the US?

NCAA football betting is legal across most of America in some form or another. Many states have passed legislation that completely legalizes land-based and online sportsbooks. Examples of regulated markets include:

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Michigan
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • West Virginia

Some of these states don’t have any notable restrictions on NCAAF gambling, while others do impose additional rules. New Jersey, for example, doesn’t allow wagering on in-state teams—even if the schools are playing outside of NJ.

Certain states lie in a gray area regarding sports betting because they have neither legalized nor criminalized it. They don’t pay much legal attention to the matter, allowing you to place online college football bets without worry. Examples of gray markets include California, Florida, and Idaho.

College football players miss out on the fun because they’re not allowed to wager on collegiate or pro sports. Any NCAA athlete who bets on games risks losing their eligibility.

Choice of Odds

Most college football betting sites provide similar odds on each bet type. Some bookmakers stand out, though, by offering more favorable odds than the competition on a regular basis. For example, they might have Alabama at -190 while competitors have the Crimson Tide at -195).

Bonuses & Promotions

A large welcome bonus is highly important for any top NCAA football betting site. We prefer sportsbooks that offer bonuses worth at least $500 if not $1,000 or more. Frequent promotions are also crucial because they allow for additional opportunities to earn extra money after the welcome deal.

Safety & Security

We only recommend operators with secure websites and solid reputations. Regarding security, any worthwhile betting site will use high-level encryption to protect its customers’ financial and personal details. They’ll also maintain licensing in at least one jurisdiction and have a history of treating bettors fairly.

Payment Methods

You only need one deposit and withdrawal method to move money to and from betting sites. Nevertheless, it’s nice when bookmakers provide several options, including bank transfers, credit cards, crypto, eWallets, and prepaid cards. Extra banking methods offer flexibility in terms of fees, speed, and convenience.

Customer Support

The best college football sportsbooks have knowledgeable and friendly customer service departments. They gain bonus points by offering 24/7 support and multiple contact methods, including email, live chat, and/or phone.

How to Bet on College Football

Registration at NCAA betting sites is normally a quick and simple process. If you’re new to the matter and seeking guidance, though, you can use the following steps to get started.

Step 1: Find a Top College Football Betting Site

Using BetOnline as our example, you can quickly find an elite NCAA football online sportsbook on this very page. Of course, you can also do your own research and review additional options beyond our top 10. In either case, the first step to wagering on college football involves finding a reputable bookmaker.

Finding a college football online sportsbook

Step 2: Sign Up for an Account

You can kick off the registration process by selecting the prompt (e.g., Sign Up Now) on a betting site’s homepage. Afterward, you’ll visit a signup form with blank fields for name, address, birth date, phone number, etc.

Step 3: Place a Deposit

Most sportsbooks accept a variety of banking options, such as Bitcoin, Neteller Skrill, Visa, and Mastercard. You can select one of the available payment methods and deposit with the desired amount.

Step 4: Visit the NCAA Football Betting Section

Many betting sites include their college football betting section under a “Football” heading. Others offer a separate NCAAF tab/link rather than placing it under a generic football header.

Step 5: Start Betting

The final step is to choose one or more bets and add them to your slip. You’ll then enter the stake amount (e.g., $20) for all relevant wagers and confirm. You should carefully consider each bet because confirmation is final.

How College Football Betting Works

NCAA football works similarly to any other type of sports betting regarding odds and bet types. Every wager attaches different odds to each side to help balance out the betting action. Here’s an example using the ever-popular moneyline:

  • Kentucky +200 – You’d wager $10 for every $20 in potential profit on the underdog Wildcats.
  • Georgia -255 – You’d bet $25.50 for every $20 in potential profit on the favored Bulldogs.

Of course, some college football bets differ in how they work compared to moneylines. The point spread—another popular wager type—requires the winning team to cover their assigned spread. Here’s an example:

  • Oregon State +6.5 (-110) – The Beavers need to lose by 6 points or less. A successful wager pays $10 for every $11 risked.
  • Washington -6.5 (-110) – The Huskies must win by 7 points or more. A winning bet pays $10 for every $11 wagered.

Popular Types of College Football Bets

The NCAAF betting world offers plenty of interesting wagers. You can find out about the different bet types and how they work below.

Moneyline Bets

Moneylines are as simple as it gets in college football gambling. You just need to pick the winner of a game/outcome to win. As seen below, online sportsbooks handicap both sides of a matchup to distribute the betting action more evenly:

  • Minnesota +170 – You bet $10 for every $17 in potential winnings.
  • Wisconsin -215 – You wager $21.50 for every $10 in potential winnings.

Spread Bets

This wager assigns each team a point spread to cover. A favorite (indicated by – sign) starts off with fewer points, while an underdog (indicated by + sign) begins with more points. Here’s an example:

  • North Carolina +9.5 (-110) – The underdog Tar Heels must lose by 9 points or less for a winning bet.
  • Florida State -9.5 (-110) – The favored Seminoles need to win by 10 points or more.

Totals Bets

A totals line (a.k.a. over/under) combines the point total for two opponents. Your mission is to guess whether the teams will collectively score over or under the line. Here’s an example of a totals bet:

  • Boise State over 63.5 – You need the Broncos and Falcons to score 64 points or more.
  • Air Force under 63.5 – You need these two teams to score 63 points or less.

Futures Bets

Not all bets play out within the current week or even month. Some wagers take months and months to happen, hence why they’re “futures.” The most common NCAA futures example involves the national championship game-winner:

college football betting futures

Prop Bets

Most college football bets revolve around a game’s final outcome. Prop bets, on the other hand, deal with propositions that aren’t directly related to the game-winner. Instead, they can include everything from the coin toss to stat leaders. You can see how a prop wager works below:

  • Highest scoring team of the week
  • Ohio State +275
  • Wake Forest +350
  • Western Kentucky +375
  • Alabama +450
  • Coastal Carolina +525
  • Other +150

Parlays

A parlay requires that you place multiple outcomes on the same bet. You have to win every outcome for a successful parlay, but you’ll earn a larger payout after winning. Here’s an example involving a 4-team parlay:

  • 4 teams; payout is 11 to 1
  • Oklahoma -175 (moneyline)
  • Tennessee +5.5 (spread)
  • Utah vs. Hawaii over 67.5 (totals)
  • Northwestern +12.5 (spread)

Teasers

Most college football bets set the odds in stone. If a sportsbook offers Kansas State at -9.5, for example, you can’t email them and ask for different odds. Teasers break the mold, though, by allowing you to “tease” (change) point totals on point spreads. They let you alter one side of the spread by a certain amount of points (either 6, 7, or 10 points). Here’s an example involving a 7-point teaser and two matchups:

Spreads before

  • Cincinnati (-7) vs. USF (+7)
  • Maryland (+11.5) vs. Penn State (-11.5)

Spreads after

  • You tease Cincinnati from -7 to even.
  • You tease Maryland from 11.5 to 18.5.

Can you Live Bet on College Football?

NCAA football live betting is widely available at the top mobile sportsbooks and beyond. It provides an opportunity to wager on outcomes that arise after a game has started. Live odds are usually only available for a brief time due to the rapidly changing nature of games. Here are common examples of live college football bets.

  • Next team to score a touchdown
  • Next team to make a field goal
  • Which player will score the next touchdown
  • Updated moneyline odds on the winning team
  • Which team will score the most points in the second half

College Football Betting Systems

college football gambling

Some college football bettors like using preset wagering strategies in hopes of winning more often. The following NCAA football betting systems are among the most popular options.

Buying Early on Bowl Teams

Bowl games take place weeks after the regular season ends, which leaves lots of time for line movement. If you can spot value in a bowl team early, then you can buy low before line moves take place. We suggest looking for this value as soon as the bowl participants are known.

Hot Overs

Defenses generally wear down quicker in hot games where the temperature exceeds 85 degrees. The over on totals lines wins more often than not in these situations. Hot overs are especially effective in non-conference games, where defenses aren’t as familiar with the offenses they’re facing.

Betting Against the Public

The public is wrong more times than not when it comes to college football gambling. Some bettors like to capitalize on this fact by wagering against the public whenever possible. This strategy involves looking up public betting stats (usually widely available) on a particular game and taking the opposite side.

Betting Against Home-Field Advantage

Most college football bettors greatly overvalue home-field advantage and often wager with the home team. Much like with betting against the public, you can fade the home squad and be opposite the masses. This strategy works even better when the home team is historically popular, such as USC, Florida, or Notre Dame.

Follow Reverse Line Movement in Heavily Bet Games

Sportsbooks often shift lines based on how the majority is betting. If South Carolina opens at +6.5 and receives 80% of the public bets, then it may soon move to +5.5 at the bookmakers’ behest. A reverse line movement goes against this logic, though, by shifting in the opposite direction due to sharp bettors. Betting sites typically do whatever is necessary to avoid being opposite these highly successful gamblers. You can track reverse line movement through various software programs and bet with the sharps.

Our Top 5 College Football Betting Tips

college football betting tips

The goal of college football betting is to improve your handicapping skills and win money. The following 5 tips can boost your chances of booking profits.

1. Focus Your Efforts

NCAAF betting presents a tempting spread with several dozen games taking place each week. If you’re a college football fan, you might feel the urge to wager on lots of contests with minimal research. A better approach is to focus on a particular conference or even just a few teams. This way, you can become an expert on a single conference or a handful of schools.

2. Look for Value in Uneven Matchups

College football differs greatly from the NFL in talent disparity. The top schools in a conference are typically two-touchdown favorites against bottom dwellers. You can often find value in these situations because of the bookmakers’ wide margin for error.

3. Avoid High Profile Contests

NCAA football features big games every week, including the likes of Georgia vs. LSU. These contests are exciting and receive much buildup from the media, but they’re bad for betting purposes. Handicappers put forth great effort to craft perfect lines for these games, leaving little value for gamblers.

4. Check for Arbitrage Betting Opportunities

Arbitrage betting (a.k.a. arbing) involves looking for a particular game’s odds across different online sportsbooks. The goal is to find opposite odds at two sportsbooks that would guarantee a profit (e.g., -170 vs. +185). Arbing is difficult because most bookmakers move in unison to prevent these very scenarios. Nevertheless, you can still find arbitrage opportunities under the right circumstances. But you should do so selectively because sportsbooks might ban you when suspecting heavy arbing.

5. Be on the Lookout for College Football Betting Bonuses

Most mobile sportsbooks offer bonuses for NCAAF betting and other types of sports gambling. You can combine these offers with your winnings to earn profits. As covered later, common bonuses include match signup deals, no deposit bonuses, free bets, and cryptocurrency offers.

You can check also different sources of expert college football picks to increase your chances for success.

Bonuses for College Football Betting Online

College football betting bonuses supplement your winnings and provide a stronger chance at becoming a profitable bettor. The following bonuses are the most common throughout sports gambling.

Match Deposit Sign Up Bonus

This bonus matches your first deposit, or series of deposits, by a certain percentage. For example, your first deposit might quality for a 100% match bonus up to $1,000.

No Deposit Bonus

A no deposit bonus is highly attractive because it provides a free chance at money. You just need to complete registration and use the right code (if required) to obtain the bonus.

Free Bets

This offer is exactly how it sounds in that it provides a free wager. The catch, though, is that you only get to keep potential winnings and not the stake. If you place a $20 free bet and win $30, for example, you would only keep the $30.

Bitcoin & Crypto Bonuses

These exclusive bonuses require you to deposit with a cryptocurrency to qualify. For instance, a betting site may feature a 100% match bonus up to $2,500 for Bitcoin depositors only.

Reload or Top-Up Bonuses

A reload bonus lets you reload, or “top up,” your account. It becomes available after you’ve either earned or exhausted the welcome bonus. You might, for example, qualify for a 25% reload bonus up to $200 when depositing.

Risk-Free Bets

Unlike a free bet, a risk-free wager doesn’t kick in unless you lose. Assuming you place a $100 risk-free bet and lose, for instance, you’d be able to earn back the $100. Provided you win, then you’ll collect the winnings and move on.

The Best Payment Methods for College Football Sportsbooks

Bitcoin college football bonuses

Most NCAA football betting sites offer plenty of ways to deposit and withdraw money. The following payment methods reign supreme in terms of availability, convenience, and low fees.

Crypto Betting Options

Many offshore betting sites prefer dealing with customers through cryptocurrencies because they don’t need to hassle with third-party financial institutions. They even offer special Bitcoin and other crypto bonuses as added incentives. On your end, cryptocurrencies provide the benefits of quick transactions, small fees, and peer-to-peer transactions.

eWallet Betting Options

An eWallet serves as an electronic middleman between your bank account and vendors. It allows you to send funds from your bank to an online sportsbook with little hassle. eWallets are also nice because they are available for both deposits and withdrawals.

Traditional Payment Methods

Credit and debit cards are the most popular deposit methods at betting sites. They provide instant transactions and a simple deposit process, which merely involves entering your card details. The downside to betting-related card transactions, though, is that they get rejected at a higher rate.

College Football Apps & Mobile Betting

None of our favorite NCAA betting sites feature apps, but they’re still compatible with mobile devices. Each one offers browser-based mobile betting, meaning you place wagers directly through your web browser. Here are the steps to wagering at college football mobile betting sites:

  1. Visit a high-quality NCAAF online sportsbook through an Android or iOS device.
  2. Register for an account.
  3. Make a deposit (optional).
  4. Place bets through your mobile web browser.

NCAA Football Betting Terms

NCAAF football gambling jargon doesn’t deviate much from general sports betting terminology. Even still, it does include some specific terms that aren’t common in other sports. The following college football betting terms will help you better understand what’s going on when placing wagers.

  • Against the spread (ATS) – A college football team’s record against the spread.
  • Arbitrage betting (a.k.a. “arbing”) – A strategy that involves seeking opposite odds for the same game at different betting sites. Arbing can deliver guaranteed profits when done right (e.g., -190 vs. +200).
  • College Football Playoff (CFP) – A four-team playoff to determine the national champion.
  • College Football Playoff National Championship Game – The final CFP game, which pits the two CFP semifinal winners against each other.
  • Conference championship – Many conferences have championship games (e.g., Big Ten Championship Game) to decide the conference winner.
  • Dime – A bet worth $1,000.
  • Fade – This term refers to betting opposite the popular side, such as fading the public.
  • Handicapping – Analyzing a matchup to determine which team/outcome is the most worthwhile bet.
  • Heisman futures – Usually available at the beginning of the season, this bet revolves around predicting the Heisman Trophy winner.
  • Juice (a.k.a. vigorish) – The cut or percentage that sportsbooks take from the losing side (often 10%) as a commission for facilitating bets.
  • Nickel – A wager worth $500.
  • Prop bet – This bet deals with an outcome other than the game-winner.
  • Rivalry game – A game involving two long-standing rivals, such as Alabama vs. Auburn.
  • Sharp bettor – A highly successful college football bettor who has a reputation among sportsbooks. Their action can even make bookmakers decide to shift lines one way or another.
  • Teaser – Teasers let you change the spread on one side of a matchup. They typically let you tease lines by 6, 7, or 10 points.

Betting on College Football Near Me

Some states offer brick-and-mortar sportsbooks in addition to betting sites. They’re great for when you seek an in-person wagering experience, complete with a lounge area to watch games. The key is knowing which states near you offer such an experience.

Colorado and Pennsylvania are two examples of places with land-based sportsbooks. Both supplement their popular online college football betting scene with various brick-and-mortar establishments. You’ll find plenty of other examples of states with land-based betting venues across America too.
